Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger at South Street Seaport

Terry's East Village Garden Party

My friend Terry volunteers at a beautiful community garden called 6BC Garden in the East Village and had a small party for her neighbors to introduce them to the garden. I have walked past this garden several times, but had no idea it was so big and open to the public. The garden is so quiet and peaceful, it makes you forget that you are in the middle of NYC. LOVE!

Wild Yaks at Santos Party House for the Bicycle Film Festival

Yoga in the Middle of Times Square?

To celebrate the summer solstice, my roomie and I participated in a yoga session in the middle of Times Square. There were 3 sessions throughout the day, and they were expecting 8,000 yogis to attend. It was a little hard to focus in Times Square with all the noise and lights and people, but it was really cool to be a part of the event.

Art in Madison Square Park

Brooklyn Half Marathon and Coney Island

I signed up to guide at the Brooklyn Half Marathon on Saturday. I ran with Joe, who I ran the Manhattan Half Marathon with in January, and another guide, Ian. The course started at Prospect Park, where we did 2 laps (about 7 miles), then we ran out of the park, onto the freeway (!), and down city streets, ending at the boardwalk at Coney Island (6 miles).

I'd never been to Prospect Park or Coney Island so it was really cool to see this part of Brooklyn. The sun was out, but the race started early enough (7am!) so it wasn't too hot, by the time we finished. Our final time was 2:09:25/ 9:52 average per mile.

Afterwards, we stopped by Nathan's for hotdogs and beers - and I think everyone else that raced did too! Yum!

Night at the Ballet

Since I've turned 27, I've decided that I need to start doing more mature, adult things, like going to the ballet. I was walking past the Lincoln Center a couple of days ago and realized that I still hadn't been to a performance there, and the very next day I got an email from one of those coupon sites for 1/2 off tickets to the ballet! It was meant to be. I got three tickets to a performance from Balanchine's Black and White Week and went with two of my friends from my volunteer group. We had an awesome time and then went to a wonderful dinner afterwards at Cafe Fiorello. I feel older already!
