Jim is my neighbor and this is his latest show. The inspiration behind Jim's photos - which I absolutely LOVE: “Why do you insist on wearing those outrageous high heels?” the woman asks. I cross my legs and admire the bulge of my calf exaggerated by the arch of my shoe, and stare down at her conservative little boat-shaped slip-on that gives her foot the illusion of floating away down a shallow creek like a withered fall leaf. I sip on a sweaty Scotch and reply warmly, “When I walk out the door in a good pair of heels, and I’m not referring to some kitschy crap that you can buy on a trip to Frederick’s of Hollywood but a really solid set of heels from Manolo or Prada Chanel Clergerie, I never feel vulnerable, there’s no time for any weakness, I feel focused strong secure, my stride is potent and no one hassles me when I’m standing on the corner hailing a cab, you’d better believe I’m the first fare he’ll throw on his brakes for, you put the two of us just a few yards away, he’ll pass you right by. Why? Because I demand respect and my heels back me up--so don’t go worrying about me, I’ve never been better, care for a cigar?” - Sandra Bernhard for The New Yorker

Schmoozing in the Hamptons

I finally made it to the Hamptons! Unfortunately I didn't go to spend a glamourous weekend at a wealthy friend's summer share, sipping champagne and snacking on oysters and caviar, but it was still fun.

My coworker received an invite to a Tag Heuer/Tesla event yesterday and invited me to go with. We left the city in our bus (so she-she...) around 4pm and arrived in the Hamptons just before 8pm. Luckily, there was plenty of champagne on the bus (we each drank a whole bottle to ourselves), so the ride went by a little faster.

The event took place at this gorgeous house on a golf course (obviously), with a beautiful backyard and pool. Several of the rooms in the house were cleared out for Tag Heuer and Tesla displays, and several Teslas were parked in the long driveway leading up to the front of the house.

Countless apps and several glasses of champagne later, they rolled out this electric Tesla (a collaboration with Tag Heuer) and allowed you to sit in it and take pictures with it, etc. Highlight of the evening: Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl came out and sat in the car to take pics! We were pretty drunk by this time and my coworker asked him to take a picture with us, which he kindly agreed to. So HOT!

At 10:30pm, we got on the bus and headed back to the city. After all the champagne we quickly passed out and woke up at 12:30am in Manhattan. So happy I finally got to go to the Hamptons, but next time, I'd like to stay a little bit longer.
