Yes, there is a Long Beach in NY. It's not like a CA beach, but it will do for now. We started early and took the Long Island Railroad to Long Beach in Long Island, about an hour long train ride. The beach is just a 10 minute walk from the train station. Unlike CA beaches, in NY you have to pay a $12 cover just to get ON the beach. On the plus side, the beach was absolutely spotless. Soft white sand, no garbage, cute lifeguards - today was a good day.
