Muddy Buddy, NY
I was recently talked into competing in Muddy Buddy, a relay race featuring 3.5 miles running and 3.5 miles biking, with a few obstacles in between, and a crawl through a mud pit at the end. whew! The biking part might have been the hardest physical thing I've ever done, and I know I'm going to be sore for the next week. Go Team Thrasher!

South Street Seaport Concerts
This is seriously an "all free" summer. Every Friday evening in the summer, the South Street Seaport hosts free concerts, from 6-9. It's the perfect way to end the week. Last night we saw Best Coast and Free Energy, and last week we saw Thee Oh Sees.

Movies in the Park at McCarren Park
Every Wednesday in the summer, L Magazine hosts SummerScreen: FREE movies in McCarren Park in Williamsburg. Last night we went to see Romeo and Juliet and it was so fun. The weather was perfect. There are amazing local food carts and bands perform for free before the show. I LOVE NY in the summer!

Williamsburg Pool Party Concerts
Every Sunday in the summer, Free Williamsburg puts on amazing FREE afternoon concerts. "Pool Party" features about 3-4 bands/DJs every Sunday, and even though I've only heard of a handful of them, it's a good excuse to get out, drink cheap drinks, and listen to cool music.

Long Beach, NY
Yes, there is a Long Beach in NY. It's not like a CA beach, but it will do for now. We started early and took the Long Island Railroad to Long Beach in Long Island, about an hour long train ride. The beach is just a 10 minute walk from the train station. Unlike CA beaches, in NY you have to pay a $12 cover just to get ON the beach. On the plus side, the beach was absolutely spotless. Soft white sand, no garbage, cute lifeguards - today was a good day.
