Martinez History Day
Martinez, CA (where I grew up) is a pretty old city with a lot of history. It's probably most well known for being the town where John Muir lived. His house has been turned into a museum in downtown Martinez. My dad has lived in Martinez for like 100 years and had never been to the house, so my sister and I took him over the Christmas holiday.
More interesting facts:
1. Joe Dimaggio was born in Martinez
2. Marinez is said to be the place where the martini was invented
3. There are a ton of great antique stores downtown

The Sing Off
So, I have a new favorite show...I don't know how I missed The Sing Off last season, but I am so happy I found it! I just wish there was more singing and less commentary from the judges (they are ridiculous). This show makes me want to join an a cappella group immediately. Here's a compilation of the Beelzebubs from season 1. LOVE!

Goose
Augustus (aka "Goose" and named after Augustus Gloop) is my friends' English Bulldog. I went out to the Sunset to visit them yesterday and we took Goose for a walk. He is adorable! I'm not the only fan of Goose - he has quite the following on Twitter: @augustusbulldog
Goose's parents will be taking off in December for an around-the-world trip. They'll be visiting family, living and working on a sustainable farm and volunteering. I'm so excited for them! I want to go too! You can follow their adventures on their blog: Where the Road Meets the Sun

Mexican Food Extravaganza
As much as I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the food in NY, the one thing that I miss from CA is Mexican food. I've been in CA for 4 days and I've had Mexican food 4 times already...and I'm not done yet. Here are a couple of things I've eaten so far:
Homemade chili colorado and flan

Boutiques.com Party
Got an invite to Google's Boutiques.com party at the Skylight in Soho! Boutiques.com launched their beta site yesterday and threw an amazing party to celebrate. Lots of celebs and bloggers there - I saw Mary Kate Olsen, Alexa Chung and Bryanboy! (Photos of a lot of celebs I didn't see from Marie Claire) The Skylight space was divided into six mini boutiques to represent the six style categories on Boutiques.com: Boho, Casual Chic, Classic, Edgy, Romantic and Street. There were different drinks, activities and foods to correspond with each boutique as well. My favorite was the "Edgy" boutique where we got tattoos!
Acrobats and Chocolate Bar in the "Romantic" boutique
Love the decor in the "Classic" boutique
