Apartment Hunting: Brilliant Disguise

Checked out 6 apartments in the East Village featured on Craigslist. This was the first day of my apartment search, and I am already discouraged and exhausted. This is going to be a lot harder than I thought...

Whoever took the pictures for this Craigslist ad is a true genius. They made a dirty, yellowing, smelly, kitchen with two closets, look like a beautiful, light, and spacious two bedroom apartment.

After commenting on the uneven and sloped flooring, I was told that it is part of the charm and character of pre-war buildings. Really?

Don't be fooled. My flash makes the place look a lot lighter than it really was.

On the plus side, it had a "private roof deck!" It was about as big as the smaller of the "2 bedrooms". I don't even know if I could have laid out without my feet hanging over the edge.
